The House is sited along a monsoon watercourse, amongst a grove of khair trees. The design locates two pavilions at an angle on the land, with the living areas on one side and bedrooms on the other. Verandahs housing the entrance, hallway and dining hold the house together; with the open kitchen forming the focus of the house (the owner is an avid gourmet). The forest and the profile of the hills behind are constantly experienced from different parts of the house. A concrete framework expresses the structure and is clad in panels of laterite. The roofs are raw galvalume sheets laid over thin concrete. Double shuttered teak wood doors, windows and panels with louver infills complete the palette.
The house settles into the landscape intimately. Across the watercourse is a garden pavilion with a free form swimming pool, the vegetable garden and orchard with a walking track linking the whole.
